You are bidding on a vintage antique, mold blown glass, hand-painted Santa Claus (Father Christmas) Christmas Tree Ornament. His eyes are a twinkling blue, lips a cheery red, his beard and the fringes of his hat and coat a pearly white while his Christmas Tree present has beautifully retained the original green! No cracks or breaks anywhere, just the normal wearing of the paint from lovingly being placed on the tree. (See the photos, particularly note the rubbing on the back.) There is only a slight wearing on the pike under the metal cap - which does have the insignia, "WEST GER" on it. These antique ornaments make lovely heirloom gifts, adding the perfect touch to a heritage Christmas tree.

DESCRIPTION: Superb early 20th century German Putz animal pheasant for your Christmas display. A large piece, about 4" long and 2" tall. Composition body and lead legs and feet. Well marked "Germany" as shown. Guaranteed authentic German Putz Work and ca. the 1900 - 1930 era and you won't be disappointed. Excellent condition, but please note the non-structural *hairline* near the end of the tail as can be seen in the pics. Otherwise, no issues. Virtually no wear to the paint, as shown. The pics are very honest and show the condition well and you will receive the exact piece shown in the pics. An exceptional addition to your collection; Putz geese, chickens, ducks and even turkeys can be found, but a pheasant is an extreme rarity. His eyes are a smiling blue with happy red lips and cheeks while his hat, accordian, and shoes are a deep blue. His ruffled collar has kept it's gorgeous gold. No cracks or breaks anywhere, just minor darkening of the paint on his hat from lovingly being placed on the tree and a slight shining on his tush from the soft patina wearing away. (See the photos.) There is only one small, semi circle chip on the pike under the metal cap - which does have, "Czechoslovakia" stamped on it.
